RILEY  - ROOM 302&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Text: Boyd, Cummins, et al, Geometry, Glencoe, © 2005 &lt;br /&gt; Students are required to bring the text to every class.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Course Content: In this course students will develop concepts and skills in Geometry through the deductive process and intuitive reasoning which will lead to better understanding of mathematical concepts and mastery of skills.  This course covers the properties, measurements and relationships of points, lines, angles, surfaces and solids.  Theorems concerning parallel and perpendicular lines and congruent polygons are explored and studied. Students investigate the Pythagorean Theory and properties of right angles as well as the field of coordinate geometry.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;MATERIALS - #2 Pencils, TI 83 Plus or TI 84 Plus graphing calculator, Notebook, loose-leaf, graph pad or paper, ruler, eraser.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;  &lt;br /&gt;Grading &lt;br /&gt;Tests – Given at the end of every chapter  40%&lt;br /&gt;Quizzes – Given at the end of each concept  20%&lt;br /&gt; Projects - Using Math in real life applications 20%&lt;br /&gt;Homework – Turned in at the start of each class 10%&lt;br /&gt;Attendance/Participation    10%&lt;br /&gt;Mid year Exam -     33% of term mark&lt;br /&gt;End of Year Exam      33% of term mark&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;ALWAYS ASK QUESTIONS TO CLARIFY IDEAS AND CONCEPTS TO FACILITATE YOUR LEARNING.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Expectations&lt;br /&gt; Attendance - All students are expected in class everyday. &lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt;Homework – All homework needs to be completed on time and be checked by the teacher at the beginning of each class. Students who were absent are responsible for obtaining and completing the assignment.  Failure to complete homework assignment will result in reduced grades.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Quizzes and Tests – Students will be given ONE opportunity to re-take a failed quiz or test, ONLY after seeking help to clarify the misunderstood concepts.  Any Test or Quiz missed due to absenteeism must be made up within Two Days (2) of returning to school.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Projects – Mini projects to apply concepts to real-life situations will be done on a regular basis, and two (2) major projects per year.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Portfolio - Portfolios will be graded twice per term.
